Number Ones Songs Quiz ====================== From: Steve Mc Newsgroups: rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1950s Subject: Number Ones Clips Quiz Results Message-ID: Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2007 12:33:15 GMT This quiz rivaled the Leiber & Stoller quiz (98%) for being easy, averaging a score of 97.9%. This one also had the best participation ever. Ten people submitted entries: Marc, Bill, Mark, Cathy, Rick, Joe, Randy, Geoff, Mick and Tom. Randy, Joe and Tom all got perfect (90) scores. Marc, Geoff, Cathy and Mick just edged out Mark, 88s to 87. Bill had 84. Rick actually had to go on vacation and therefore didn't have the time to submit a full entry, but as a measure of supporting these quizzes, he did submit an entry, and a very creative one at that. He submitted a correct quess for #1 of the #1 clips quiz. No clip remained unidentified. The hardest one turned out to be Party Doll (#22), missed by two. Ally Oop (#34) probably gave the most people the most trouble, as most seemed to struggle with it. The next hardest ones, unidentified by only one of the participants were: Runaway (#18), Sheila (#19), Runaround Sue (#20) and Stay (#27). Too Much (#30) was the only other clip that was unidentified by one, and also the song was unidentified by another. I thought Get A Job (#35) would have been the hardest, and it did produce some trouble, but everyone eventually got it. The Elvis instrumental breaks also seem to cause some trouble (thanks Scotty). All other clips were identified by all. #01) Ricky Nelson: Poor Little Fool #02) Lloyd Price: Stagger Lee #03) Dean Martin: Memories Are Made Of This #04) Shirelles: Will You Love me Tomorrow #05) Santo & Johnny: Sleep Walk #06) Platters: The Great Pretender #07) Elvis Presley: A Big Hunk O' Love #08) Gogi Grant: The Wayward Wind #09) Coasters: Yakety Yak #10) Chiffons: He's So Fine #11) Ernie K-Doe: Mother-In-Law #12) Danny & The Juniors: At The Hop #13) Drifters: Save The Last Dance For Me #14) Jimmie Rodgers: Honeycomb #15) Everly Brothers: Bird Dog #16) Crickets: That'll Be The Day #17) Little Eva: The Locomotion #18) Del Shannon: Runaway #19) Tommy Roe: Sheila #20) Dion: Runaround Sue #21) Ray Charles: Hit The Road Jack #22) Buddy Knox and His Rhythm Orchids: Party Doll #23) Guy Mitchell: Singin The Blues #24) Marvelettes: Please Mr. Postman #25) Champs: Tequila #26) The Everly Brothers: Wake Up Little Susie #27) Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs: Stay #28) Chubby Checker: The Twist #29) Elvis Presley: Hard Headed Woman #30) Elvis Presley: Too Much #31) Johnny Horton: Battle of New Orleans #32) Platters: My Prayer #33) Marty Robbins: El Paso #34) Hollywood Argyles: Alley Oop #35) Silhouettes: Get A Job #36) Ray Charles: Georgia On My Mind #37) Everly Brothers: Cathy's Clown #38) Wilbert Harrison: Kansas City #39) Gary U.S. Bonds: Quarter To Three #40) Marcels: Blue Moon #41) Platters: Smoke Gets In Your Eyes #42) Tennessee Ernie Ford: Sixteen Tons #43) Gene Chandler: Duke of Earl #44) Roy Orbison: Running Scared #45) Elvis Presley: I Want You, I Need You, I Love You
